UPT Offers New York City Bus Trip
with Broadway Option

Upper Providence Township Parks and Recreation is reminding residents that time is running out to reserve a spot for its upcoming bus trip to New York City.
The trip offers participants two options: spend the day exploring the city independently or attend a Broadway performance of “Death Becomes Her.” Visitors can take advantage of popular attractions such as museums, the 9/11 Memorial, Summit One Vanderbilt, the High Line, Battery Park or the Staten Island Ferry.
Organizers note that tickets for the Broadway show are especially limited, and early registration is encouraged.
Those interested can sign up through the township’s recreation website.
Pottstown Nights Car Shows
Return for 2026 Season

The popular Pottstown Nights Car Shows are set to return for the 2026 season, bringing a series of lively community events to downtown Pottstown.
Hosted by the Red Horse Motoring Club, the shows will take place on May 2, June 6, July 11, August 1 and September 5, running from 3 to 9 p.m. each evening.
The events are free to attend and welcome a wide variety of vehicles, including cars, trucks and motorcycles. Streets will close at 1 p.m. to allow for setup, with participant entry at Queen and South Hanover streets.
Each show will feature food trucks, vendors, live entertainment and family-friendly activities, creating a full afternoon and evening of entertainment for residents and visitors alike.
UPT to Host Sports Management
Camp for Youth

Upper Providence Township Parks and Recreation is offering a Sports Management Camp this summer in partnership with Spark Business Academy, giving young participants a behind-the-scenes look at the business side of sports.
The camp will run August 10–14, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the UPT Community Center (Silo Room) and is open to students ages 10 to 14.
Participants will explore topics such as player contracts, mock drafts, endorsements, college athletics, esports and major brand rivalries, all through interactive, hands-on activities designed to simulate real-world sports management.
The cost is $350 for the week, and organizers note that space is limited.
Montco Officials Oppose
Proposed PECO Rate Hikes

A proposed rate increase by PECO could lead to higher utility bills for residents across the region beginning in 2027, prompting concern and pushback from local lawmakers.
The utility company has filed a plan to raise electric rates by 12.5% and natural gas rates by 11.4%, affecting more than 2 million customers in southeastern Pennsylvania. For the average household, the increase would mean an estimated $20 more per month for electricity and about $14.50 more for natural gas.
The proposal comes shortly after customers experienced a roughly 10% rate increase in early 2026, adding to concerns about affordability.
In response, Montgomery County lawmakers have formally urged the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) to reject the proposal, citing the financial strain on residents. State legislators have also advanced a Ratepayer Protection Bill as part of the broader debate.
The PUC is expected to hold public input hearings in June, with a final decision anticipated later this year, giving residents an opportunity to voice their opinions.
